Dr Dorothy Szinay (Coaching and Therapy)

£100/session

Dr Dorothy Szinay is a Chartered Psychologist specializing in health psychology and ADHD coaching. In addition to her interest in the link between physical and mental health, Dorothy has a special focus on the connection between health behaviours, health conditions, and executive function challenges (ADHD), and how the interaction between these affects mental and physical health.

Diagnosed with ADHD later in life, Dorothy has personally experienced the significant challenges it brings. She has a deep understanding of how ADHD and autism can manifest differently depending on gender. As a behaviour change consultant, Dorothy has spent the last several years consulting on projects within the NHS, local authorities, and central government, while advocating for the needs of neurodivergent individuals.

In her coaching practice, Dorothy incorporates different frameworks to support her clients. Some frameworks help to reinstate the dignity that might have been diminished for neurodivergent individuals compared to neurotypicals. Other frameworks are used to identify barriers to success, whether related to career ambitions or lifestyle changes, in both work and home environments.

Dorothy understands how ADHD can enable individuals to become successful leaders and entrepreneurs by leveraging their unique strengths, provided the challenges caused by ADHD, particularly perfectionism and burnout, are effectively managed. This is where framework based on behaviour change are so effective.

In psychological therapy sessions, Dorothy uses an integrative approach, combining various therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and a person-centred approach.
