Description
Hi, I’m Amanda and I am a personal and career development coach.
I worked in financial services for 32 years and although I had many good times in my career, I never quite felt that I belonged or was fulfilled. I trained as a coach in 2018 and immediately felt that I had found my vocation. I worked as part of an internal coaching practice at my organization alongside my ‘day job’ and soon realized that coaching was the ‘day job’ I wanted.
I took the plunge in 2022 and left the corporate world. I always felt that I didn’t really fit the traditional leader mold, although I loved leading others and helping them to develop and achieve their dreams. For many years, I didn’t have the self-belief to really be me and suffered terrible anxiety before going into presentations or speaking at conferences. Would people like me? Would they think I was talking sense?
I now understand that a lot of this was probably driven by my ADHD. I say probably, as I haven’t yet been formally diagnosed. My son was diagnosed in 2020 and having undertaken education and research into ADHD, I realized that many of my thoughts, ways of processing and behaviors which make me feel different are linked to ADHD and have become more amplified by hormonal changes in recent years. I’m now on the waiting list for diagnosis. Since understanding more about why I may be the way I am, I feel more able to be me and more comfortable with not trying to strive for perfection.
I have had some very challenging times over the last few years, both professionally and personally and have felt constantly under pressure. It was physically exhausting and emotionally draining, living up to an impossibly high self-imposed standard needing to be perfect and failing dismally in my own eyes, no matter what anyone else said. So I really understand what it is like to feel that fear of not living up to expectations, both professionally and as a mother, partner and friend.
Learning more about ADHD, being coached myself and coaching others has helped me develop new ways of thinking and be brave. I have had to challenge my own beliefs and thoughts as a result of both my own journey and that of my son. I now have more compassion and realize the importance of self-care, both for my own wellbeing but also so I can be a good parent, partner, coach and friend. It has been liberating and I am passionate about supporting you to achieve this for yourself.
I work with females who have either been diagnosed or have a strong feeling that they have ADHD and know that they want to change something but maybe don’t know what or where to start. So, if you are feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, lacking confidence or are feeling a bit lost, I can work with you to develop ways of changing damaging or self-limiting thinking patterns and behaviors. Whether you are looking for professional or personal development, I can help you create the space that you need to work out what you want to do and how to get there, in a way that is appropriate for you.
I provide a supportive environment allowing you to really challenge yourself, provoking new thinking through careful questioning and being fully focused on you as an individual. I know what it is like to feel that you don’t where to start. It can be daunting but coaching works. There is no judgement, and the pace is set by you. If you think I could help you then please get in touch, and we can have an initial chat.
